Harker Provides Connectivity for CMS Students
“Gives back to the community” is one of Our Core Values that we operate by and it is apparent that there are many urgent needs around the city as we continue to navigate this pandemic. Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools opened this fall on a remote learning plan and are beginning to migrate to a hybrid plan of in-person and remote learning. When schools opened in August, there were an estimated 16,000 households with CMS students that lacked home internet connectivity. With remote learning being the primary operation for CMS, it is imperative that each student has the necessary resources to engage online schooling.
In an effort to close the connectivity gap for students in the Charlotte area, we engaged many of our subcontractors and our team members to raise funds for hotspot donations. We are proud to say, with the help of our team members and subcontractors, we raised a total of $18,550. With this, we will be able to provide 92 hotspots to CMS households, which will allow students to participate in online learning.
Thank you so much to everyone who donated to provide connectivity for CMS students. We appreciate your commitment to our team and our Core Values!
