Harker is proud to be partnering with CMS and Tuckaseegee Elementary to improve education in our community for the second year! We are committed to embracing our community in a way that fosters empathy, advances knowledge and builds foundational relationships. We strive to use our core values and available resources to provide tangible support within our community in order to make a difference in the lives of others.
This school year, the school had a particularly urgent need that we wanted to help address.
Tuckaseegee Elementary has a uniform standard for their students. Uniforms teach students to dress neatly and take pride in their appearance. This promotes self-confidence that can benefit them into adulthood. It also reduces peer pressure and social expectations between students, so they are able to focus more wholly on their education!
Often, children can damage their clothing at school through play or during an accident. Some may not arrive in the proper dress due to family circumstances. If a child is not clothed appropriately, a parent may need to be called and that child has to take time out of their studies to address the concern.
This holiday season, Harker chose to help provide emergency clothing for the Tuckaseegee Elementary Nurse’s Station. With the support of businesses in our community, we reached our goal and raised $2000 to purchase emergency clothing supplies for the school! Stocking the Nurse’s Station with extra uniforms, underthings and warm outerwear will ensure that children do not have to spend vital educational time waiting for parents to bring them fresh clothes. They won’t have to leave campus only to find it’s too late in the day to return. Instead, they can remedy the problem quickly and get back to class!
We’d like to thank A&K Painting, Allison Gair, Austin Black @ Bonitz, Beacham Construction, CM Steel, Dianne Almond, Jason Smiley @ Lomax Tile, Mai Reinhold @ Cook & Boardman, Nancy Noto with Clean Rite, Precision Plumbing, Preferred Electric, Warco and all of our Harker team members who donated to this exceptional cause! Thank you all so much for helping us make a positive impact in our community!
Warmest Regards,
The Harker Team
